In any repair case, the person doing the repair must know the gadget, equipment or tool he’s repairing. He must not only know what the tool is called and what it does but he must know every possible fact and information about the said equipment. Even the smallest part of the gadget would need to be understood to make repairing the said gadget as easy, as precise, and as fast as possible. Failing to gain knowledge on the parts of the gadget will make repairing it difficult to accomplish, if not impossible. Among the things that may break down from time to time and may need repair every now and then are the things used under a daily basis, things like cleaning tools. And among the cleaning tools that would need to be maintained and repaired due to heavy use are vacuum cleaners.

Vacuum cleaners are the cleaning devices that utilize air pumps in sucking dirt and debris from surfaces. It has several parts but most of its cleaning mechanisms are practically the same for all models. When repairing vacuum cleaners then, one must try to know first its basic parts in order to be able to repair the cleaning tool well. Here’s a list of the basic parts of most vacuum cleaners.

The parts responsible for taking in dirt and debris. These are technically the intake port, rotating brush, cleaning pads and roller brush. These parts are the gateway ports, or the ones that touch the surface cleaned up and suck in the dirt from a carpet or floor or any other surface requiring cleaning. Some vacuum would only have the rotating brush and roller brush while others would have the cleaning pads instead.

The internal fans and the belts. These two parts are the ones that work in guiding the dirt and debris towards the filters and the dust bags. The internal fan can be found behind the rotating brush while the cleaner belt is connected to the rods that hold on the rotating brush.

The vacuum cleaner bags and filters. Some vacuum cleaners, especially those that are of the older models, act as the filters themselves while some have separate filters on the other hand. The cleaner bags receives the dirt from the cleaning process. Some bags will have filtered sections for heavy solid waste and sections for the dust. The dirt and debris are separated by the filters to prevent the fan blades from becoming broken and the cleaner bag from becoming punched with holes.

The motor. The motor is actually the most important part of the vacuum cleaner, typically because it’s the one responsible for running the whole equipment. The motor keeps the fans and the belts running properly, once it’s broken then the whole vacuum equipment would need replacement. It is the most crucial part of the cleaner.

Sometimes cleaning materials like vacuum cleaners will fail us while we are doing our annual general clean up schedule. And in most cases, we stop what we’re doing since the said tool has just malfunctioned. Times like this normally would frustrate us and eat up our energy especially when we are in a tight schedule and would like to get things over and done with. However, cases like this should not really upset us, after all, there are a handful do it your own trouble shooting tips that we can perform when our vacuum fail at their tasks. Unless the trouble with our vacuum cleaners lies on the electric connections or the vacuum’s motor itself, then we can certainly repair our own tool if we really want to.

Now it’s important to know how to troubleshoot and repair our vacuum cleaners since this will save us the time and money needed to go to a repair shop to repair things. Also, once we know how to troubleshoot our vacuum cleaners, we can make them last long, long years. Here are some easy troubleshooting tips that we can do the next time our vacuum cleaners act up on us.

There are three concerns common among problematic vacuum cleaners, poor suction, still brush and no power. Among the three, poor suction is the one frequently experienced while cleaning, so let’s have it later and discuss the latter two first.

Still brushes result from broken belts, thus, you will need to change the belt. Access the belt and the brush by removing the base of the vacuum machine. The belt’s connected to rotating rods that are connected to the base and to the brush. Remove the belt and simply slip on the new belt to the rotating rods. As with the no power problem, it’s best to check whether the problem is due to burned motor or exposed or broken wires. If the case is the latter, you can put electrical tape around each of the exposed wires, twist the coppers together in each wire and cover them with electrical tape again. This way, the wires can now touch each other and make the vacuum work.

Poor suction is again said to be the most common problem among the three and can possibly be caused by a lot of things. One, the vacuum will refuse to suck dirt and debris once the vacuum bag is full. So check first whether the vacuum bag is full if the vacuum refuses to take in more dirt. Two, try to see if the vacuum bag is wet. If it is, it normally diminishes suction capacity and thus would still need to dry up. Three, if the vacuum has filter parts, it’s advisable to clean the filters as well by hand washing. But if you’ll find out that these are broken, then it’s necessary that you replace them.

Now five, if the vacuum leaves lint, it’s possible that hairs or threads have probably wrapped and clogged around the vacuum’s roller, thus remove the roller from the vacuum’s compartment and remove these threads or hairs from the roller. Take care that you don’t break the part as you try to remove the debris from it. And six, of there seems to be something stuck up in the hose, remove the suction cup and then run the hose into a garbage bag and turn the motor on to see if it releases something that has caused it to suck poorly. If there’s nothing there, it’s possible that the hose has some holes in it.

When a product is manufactured, it is manufactured with the inventor or manufacturer’s goal in mind. That goal is to produce something that will be of use today and in the future. These products are not manufactured one by one but in bulk and in different styles, functions, and purposes. So it is with these vacuums, when the engineer created these he thought of different people with different needs.

Here are some of the best-sellers from Metropolitan Company with their general names and uses:

1. Vapor Steam Cleaner Vacuum – this is light equipment which uses true steam. The steam’s purpose is to sterilize, sanitize, and deodorize the house or the inside of the car. Most customers who use this equipment are those who have an asthmatic or allergic family member. The steam helps settle dusts and cleans surfaces that may have been infested by germs or bacteria that can cause skin irritations or other forms of allergy. And because it focuses on sanitizing the air, too, that means no extra effort to freshen the air in the house or inside the car. Like all the other product outputs of the company, this tool lasts long.

2. Animal Vacuum Cleaner - ideal for cleaning hard to reach surfaces including carpets and stairs as well as sofas. It works well in removing animal hair or fur as its name indicates. The equipment does not come with a container or bag like the other vacuum products. This makes it easy to clean and empty the small trash bin attached to it and no clogging as well. The others require replacing their bags or canisters if they break and replacing that alone is expensive. Though this vacuum is more expensive than the others, it is certified to be child-friendly and very hygienic. By that it means good health for the whole family.

3. Metropolitan Professionals - People who have used this vacuum find the tool easy to drag or carry. It is very light compared to other lightweight vacuums produced by the company. The stainless steel is not only an amazing external design but it has its purpose of protecting the equipment from breaking down easily. This tool comes with a complete set of cleaning accessories and a very simple operating function. This is the cheapest of the three and is also a standard vacuum that may compete with the more advanced ones because of its excellent features.

Features and benefits vary from each product. So does the need of every individual. When purchasing household equipment or appliances, the buyer has to consider not only the budget but what he will use it for and for how long does he think he is going to need it. Decision rests in his palm

Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4PNHSF is one of the Metropolitan Company’s best designed vacuum cleaners. It is a multi-function tool with a stainless steel case and a guaranteed five years warranty.

A single tool to do multiple tasks is a most convenient way of living each day at a fast paced world. Because of its versatility, there is no need to buy additional tools or equipment to do individual jobs. This helps the buyer save money for other purposes. This is very useful in cleaning carpets in the house or inside the car thoroughly making the areas safe for every member of the family, especially those with younger kids. No worry about dusts and animal fur or mites infecting anyone in the house for this comes in ready at all times with simple operating functions. It also has a hose that can reach hidden areas of the house or the car like corners or under tables and beds. This can be used to inflate mattresses and rafts as well.

If one has to choose between a manual or automated job, most people today will grab the easy ones – automated. The reason behind that would be that there are more works than manpower nowadays so everyone has to double their efforts and time. Time is very important and to waste a minute of it means to waste one-third of one’s life. The way the equipment was designed will help the user save for what is more important – probably time for a business appointment or a meeting with a friend.

With the all-in-one vacuum cleaner, everyone will benefit much from it for they no longer have to manually wipe off their computer or appliance and equipment when it accumulates dust or dirt. And this calls for less stress, more time for other activities or even a quality time for oneself and family.

The tool can withstand loads of work that it was designed to do. It does not easily break proven by the free five years warranty provided by the company. With the warranty, one can have peace of mind and assurance that whatever happens to the product, there is a responsible personality who will have it replaced or repaired without additional costs. Warranty is given because there is something to be proven about the product. Warranty results to one’s trust and satisfaction toward the company and product and invites more consumers. A company does not waste its skills and money in replacing or repairing broken, non-working products within that span of five years. So there is a guarantee that the tool will work to its maximum limit.

When it comes to proof of the functionality of a product, this technical generation holds on to the perspective that if they do not use the product or try it they will not know its certainty the next time around.

It is not always enough to settle for any mere vacuum cleaner ñ some cheap and low quality ones can actually circulate more dirt and allergens than cleaning them, so itís a good idea to invest in one that will not only last through repeated use through the years, but also for safety and health purposes. Compiled below are the top 5 best vacuum cleaners in the market today, all of which have garnered strong, positive reactions from the community. The list is in no order whatsoever.

1.) Hoover Platinum Lightweight ñ this new model from Hoover uses their exclusive WindTunnel technology to suck more dirt and particles in one sweep compared to any other brands. It is an upright model, uses a HEPA bag that traps 99.9% of dirt and dust for a cleaner air, and weighs only 12 pounds, making it lightweight and able to be moved around easily. It also comes with an optional canister bag for additional mobility and versatility. It has a 6-year warranty.

2.) Dyson DC41 Ball Vacuum ñ is one of Dysonís bestselling vacuum cleaners owing to its unique Dyson ball that enables the user to follow the contour furniture and flooring easily and without hassle. It is lightweight, and uses the exclusive Radial Root Cyclone technology that considerably increases suction power. The DC41 is also the best among the vacuum cleaners for pet hair, and has a separate telescopic ìwandî so you can reach into the hardest, remotest places.

3.) Miele S2180 Titan ñ is a high quality vacuum cleaner built to rigorous German Standards. Like the Hoover Platinum, the Miele Titan uses a HEPA filter to trap allergens and dust particles even as tiny as 0.3 microns in diameter. Far lighter than the competition at less than 10 pounds, the Miele Titan uses a 1200-watt motor, a Miele Sealed System that prevents dust the vacuum has sucked from recirculating through the exhaust back to the air, and an electric telescopic wand for added versatility and reach.

4.) Bissell 16N5 ñ is a fully cyclonic vacuum cleaner that uses a highly efficient variant, called multi-cyclonic technology, using an AireTight HEPA filter that traps 100% of the dust particles, dirt, and allergens that have been trapped using suction. It features a TurboBrush that offers nearly unparalleled brushing power to shake loose dirt from the floor, plus an anti-microbial coat inside its dust and dirt container.

5.) Electrolux Ultra Quiet Vacuum ñ this is a canister type vacuum cleaner that boasts the worldís quietest vacuum operation, that itís a little hard to know if itís in operation. It uses a patented sound insulation technology, a HEPA filter, and a dust bag indicator, plus all the reach and flexibility you can expect from a canister type.

When people refer to vacuum cleaners, most of the time they are talking about home maintenance devices used to clean their homes, and can usually be operated by a single person. There are, however, some vacuum cleaners that are up to industry standards and are much more heavy-duty than your standard home vacuum cleaners, such as those used for chemical spills that are mounted on trucks, but for the purposes of our discussion – since these cleaners are not available to the average consumer anyway ñ there are several configurations of home-use vacuum cleaners available that fulfil specific types of tasks.

The most common configuration of a vacuum cleaner is the cylinder, or canister-type, vacuum cleaner. This type is extremely common in Europe and what the British would most often call a ìHooverî. This involves an electric (in some cases gas-powered) motor and a dust collector mounted on wheels , attached to a nozzle via a flexible pipe or tube. The main strength of a cylinder or a canister vacuum cleaner is its versatility, since the pipe is flexible, has a decent range, and can reach places that other vacuum cleaners would not be able to. Modern cylinder or canister type vacuum cleaners also have different nozzles for different jobs, meaning one can just replace it with another to clean a special kind of surface (such as a brush nozzle for a carpet or similar surface). A larger version of the cylinder vacuum cleaner is the drum type, which is essentially the same but with a larger dust collector mounted vertically; this is for more heavy-duty cleaning.

Another is the standing configuration, also known as free standing or upright. As evident from the name, this is a vacuum cleaner with a cleaning head and a dust collector mounted right on top of it; the cleaning head usually has a set of wheels and a brushroll in front of it, and has a long handle built right onto the dust collector. There are also two sub-types of the upright configuration, which is mostly designated for where the motor is located in the unit. Though less common in the rest of Europe as the cylinder, the upright vacuum cleaner fulfills a role similar to that of a drum type, albeit less heavier.

Finally there are also a cyclonic vacuum cleaner, which can be any of the two above, or in its category, first developed in the 90s. A cyclonic vacuum cleaner uses centrifugal technology to separate the dust from the air, thus removing the need to include a separate filtration bag. This is known as a cyclonic separation principle and is a far safer alternative to the traditional methods of vacuum cleaning.

Vacuum cleaners, once called pneumatic cleaners, were first idealized in the 19th century, mainly being hand powered or manually pumped devices that were initially meant to clean carpets with a little suction for dust and dirt. The first motorized vacuum cleaners appeared early in the 20th century, mostly using electricity, and has now proliferated into the modern life with such configurations as lightweight, USB-powered ones to free-standing models that are an ubiquitous sight in building utilities.

Daniel Hess, an Iowa native, patented the first vacuum cleaner in 10 July 1860 as a device called the carpet sweeper; this took the form of a machine with a rotating brush for the carpet, and a complex mechanism of bellows that would provide the suction. This was a little too huge for normal, day-to-day cleaning tasks though, so 9 years later another inventor, McGaffey, refined the invention as a compact and lightweight device, with a manual hand crank that would suck the debris or dirt from the carpet. It wasnít until the early part of the 1900s that the first motorized vacuum cleaner was first made, when H. Cecil Booth pioneered the name of a ëvacuum cleanerí and a non-manual operation. Later, in 1908, the Hoover Company, erstwhile vendors of leather harnesses that were becoming obsolete with the advent of the automobiles, adapted the refinements made since Boothís device and launched the first modern vacuum cleaner as we know it today. In fact, their invention was so popular that even today the British slang ìto hooverî means cleaning using a vacuum cleaner.

The industrial and economic boom of the West after the Second World War brought vacuum cleaners to the spotlight in homes everywhere; prior to this, they only enjoyed the company of the upper classes, since they were still mostly used for carpet cleaning. It was also during this time that one of the iconic vacuum cleaners to date, the Hoover Constellation, was also manufactured ñ this product was odd in the sense that while most modern vacuum cleaners had wheels so they can be moved around while cleaning, the Constellation instead hovered over a cushion of air, similar in principle to a hovercraft. This was later emulated in the first decade of the 21st century with the air-cushion vacuum cleaners that have begun circulating in the market, claiming that they are far mobile, compact and lightweight than their wheeled counterparts. Some has even combined cutting-edge electronics with the technology, producing fully autonomous robotic vacuum cleaners.

Today the vacuum cleaner industry, led by Hoover, is a huge industry and has undergone extensive refinements, although they still use the basic concept from the very first Hoover vacuum cleaner.
